Musicians Appeal Class Denial in Copyright Termination Case

A group of musicians who failed to convince a New York federal judge to certify their would-be class action against UMG Records Inc. and Capitol Records LLC over reclaimed copyright ownership are asking a appeals court to review the decision.

The musicians, who include members of the punk rock band The Dickies and the alt-rock group Dream Syndicate, filed a notice of appeal on Feb. 10, after Judge Lewis A. Kaplan declined to certify the class late last month.
