Musician Drops Copyright Suit Over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Loyalty’

Musician Terrance Hayes voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit against rapper Kendrick Lamar for allegedly ripping off Hayes’ song “Loyalty” in Lamar’s song of the same name, according to a filing in Los Angeles federal court.

Hayes sued Lamar, his label Top Dawg Entertainment, and others in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in August.

According to the complaint, Hayes’ longtime collaborator Josef Leimberg worked with musician Terrace Martin on the production of Lamar’s album “To Pimp a Butterfly,” using the joint alias LoveDragon. Hayes said Martin had access to his work on Leimberg’s computer. ...
