Music publishers battling Anthropic PBC over using song lyrics to train its AI models brought a new copyright lawsuit against the company that includes a piracy claim they couldn’t add to the original case.
Concord Music Group Inc., Capitol CMG Inc., and Universal Music Corp. are among the groups suing Anthropic over its use of BitTorrent that downloaded pirated song lyrics for its artificial intelligence training data, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The lawsuit also names Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and co-founder Benjamin Mann as defendants.
