Murdoch Companies Hit Back at Push to Move AI Copyright Case

Dow Jones & Co. and NYP Holdings Inc. fired back on Perplexity AI Inc.'s arguments that a New York federal court lacks personal jurisdiction over the news publishers’ copyright lawsuit against the AI startup.

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York can hear the case because Perplexity AI has targeted New York residents in certain advertisements, derives significant revenue from the state’s residents, and has its chief strategy officer based in New York, the companies, owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., said in a letter filed Thursday.
