Basketballs and footballs sold by YouTube megastar MrBeast’s company infringe the “beast” trademark owned by sports equipment manufacturer Russell Brands LLC, according to a federal lawsuit.
The “beast” balls sold by Beast Holdings LLC use a mark “virtually identical” to the one Russell’s Spalding brand has used since 2002 and are likely to cause confusion, the equipment and apparel-maker alleged in a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.
James Stephen “Jimmy” Donaldson, known as MrBeast, didn’t immediately respond to written requests for comment via email and on his website.
