MPI Corp Says Italian Semiconductor Firm Infringes Patents

Semiconductor manufacturer MPI Corp. filed patent infringement allegations against its Italian competitor Technoprobe S.p.A. over the creation and sale of integrated circuit testing cards.

Technoprobe’s HiP Architecture and Phantom probe card lines use similar methods as US Patent Nos. 9,823,272 and 9,423,424, according to a complaint filed April 17 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

The patents protect methods for wafer probing, which allows manufacturers to test semiconductor parts before packaging, Taiwan-based MPI said. MPI said it has a virtual patent marking website that confirms at least one product may use the protected methods, ...
