Monster Scores Injunction in ‘Reign’ Trademark Fight

Monster Energy Co. is entitled to a preliminary injunction blocking rival Vital Pharmaceuticals Inc. from selling energy drinks under the “Reign” name, as Monster has shown a substantial likelihood it will succeed on its trademark infringement claims, a federal court in Florida ruled.

Vital, doing business as VPX Sports, and Monster, through its subsidiary Reign Beverage Co., both sell Reign brand energy drinks marketed toward fitness-conscious consumers. The companies have filed cross-claims of trademark infringement against each other.
