Modular Closets Sues Competitor for Infringing Design Patent

A custom closet builder sued its competitor for creating and selling knockoff products to multi-family home developers.

Texas-based Clozzits Inc.’s semi-custom closet products look similar to Modular Closets LLC’s designs, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Modular Closets said its competitor infringed US Patent No. D776,465 which deals with a design for a modular closet section with hanging bar.

• New Jersey-based Modular Closets said it notified Clozzits of its infringement concerns in March, but the competitor did not stop selling the look-a-like product.
