MLB Players’ Union Drops FanDuel From Publicity Rights Lawsuit

An arm of the Major League Baseball players’ union excused gambling platform FanDuel Inc. from its right of publicity suit in New York federal court.

MLB Players Inc., the union’s commercial licensing subsidiary, dropped claims against FanDuel with prejudice in a Nov. 15 filing. That leaves only online sportsbook Underdog Sports Inc. and two related entities defending MLB Players’ lawsuit in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Counsel for the parties didn’t immediately return requests for comment on the voluntary dismissal of FanDuel. FanDuel removed the lawsuit from state to federal court last month, ...
