MillerCoors Must Turn Over More Keystone Ads in ‘Stone’ Case

MillerCoors LLC was wrong to “cherry pick” which Keystone marketing materials to produce in a trademark dispute with craft brewery Stone Brewing Co., the Southern District of California said Sept. 17.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California ordered MillerCoors to produce all Keystone advertising materials since 1989 regardless of whether they include the word “Stone.”

MillerCoors started emphasizing the word “Stone” in advertising and packaging for its Keystone beers in 2017. Stone argues the rebranding effort infringed its trademarks.
