Military Retirement Home Beats Resident’s Political Speech Suit

A resident of a military retirement home and “passionate” Donald Trump supporter lost his political speech claim after alleging the facility had violated the Constitution by banning his MAGA-themed apparel during the 2024 election.

The presence of residence halls with private quarters at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Miss. are insufficient to transform the facility’s common areas into designated public fora, said Judge Halil S. Ozerden of the US District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi in his May 1 opinion granting the home’s chief operating officer John S.
