Miley Cyrus Says ‘Flowers’ Copyright Plaintiff Can’t Bring Suit

Miley Cyrus’ attorneys asked a federal judge to throw out a copyright lawsuit over her Grammy-winning song “Flowers,” arguing the plaintiffs aren’t the exclusive copyright owners of the song they say the artist infringed.

Tempo Music Investments LLC lacks statutory standing because it owns the copyrights of only one of the four songwriters of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man,” according to a motion to dismiss filed by the Cyrus and other defendants on Wednesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
