Microsoft’s Activision Owes $23 Million Over Gaming Patents (1)

Microsoft Corp.'s Activision Blizzard unit must pay Acceleration Bay LLC $23.4 million after a federal jury in Delaware found that three of its popular video games infringe either of two network technology patents.

Activision owes $18 million for the game World of Warcraft’s infringement of US Patent No. 6,701,344 and owes $5.4 million for infringing US Patent No. 6,732,147 with two iterations of its Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, according to the verdict issued May 3 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
