Microsoft Seeks Relief From Discovery in Nvidia Chip Patent Case

Microsoft Corp. asked a federal judge in El Paso, Texas, to pause a portion of proceedings in a patent suit targeting the tech giant and AI chips-maker, Nvidia Corp.

Microsoft said Xockets Inc.'s joint patent-antitrust suit should proceed against Nvidia while the claims targeting Microsoft should be split off into a separate case and paused. The company argued that the patent infringement claims against it are for its activities as an Nvidia customer, and “resolution of the patent claims against NVIDIA will resolve all or substantially all of the patent claims against Microsoft, including major issues of infringement and invalidity.” ...
