Microsoft, Samsung Settle Texas WiFi Patent Fight With Vivato

Microsoft Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. settled their respective patent fights with Vivato Technologies over adaptive, extended-range wireless network technology that serves multiple users and devices simultaneously, according to filings in a Texas federal court.

Settlements in principle in both cases were reached March 13, with final terms expected to be submitted for court approval in mid-April, according to notices submitted the next day in two challenges involving Vivato’s 10,715,235 patent.

Judge Alan Albright of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas then stayed Vivato’s Microsoft and Samsung challenges on Wednesday at the parties’ joint request. He ...
