Microsoft Infringes Software Operating Technology, Lawsuit Says

Canadian company VirtaMove Corp. sued Microsoft Corp. in Texas federal court alleging infringement of a patent for enabling software designed for one operating system to run on an incompatible operating system.

Microsoft’s products like its Azure Kubernetes Service infringe US Patent No. 7,774,762, according to a complaint filed May 30 in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. VirtaMove claims the patented technology allows applications to be executed across different computing platforms without recoding, and said its technology provides providing benefits like lower costs and greater scalability.
