Microsoft Denied in Bid to Move Patent Suits From Waco to Austin

Microsoft Corp. will face a series of lawsuits from WSOU Investments LLC in Waco, Texas, after Judge Alan Albright refused the software giant’s request to move the cases to Austin.

Albright, of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, said Microsoft hadn’t shown that litigating the case in Austin, where Microsoft has a sales office, would be clearly more convenient than in Waco.

A jury trial is scheduled for March 2022.

WSOU Investments registered with the state of Texas in January 2020. Since then, it has filed nearly 200 patent suits, according to Bloomberg Law data. The ...
