Microsoft Alleges Florida Company Sells Counterfeit Software

A Florida corporation distributed thousands of counterfeit Microsoft Corp. programs and components, the tech giant alleges in a complaint in federal district court.

Southern Technology Solutions Inc., or STS, indicates that it sells genuine Microsoft products, but the products are actually unauthorized, Microsoft said. Documents produced during discovery in a similar 2016 case against distributor My Choice Software LLC showed STS was a primary source of the unauthorized products, Microsoft said in a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
