Microsoft Added to OpenAI Copyright Lawsuit From Authors Guild

Microsoft Corp. is now facing a copyright infringement lawsuit from the country’s largest professional writers’ association after the group amended its original complaint against OpenAI Inc. in the proposed class action.

The Authors Guild and a group of famous authors including George R.R. Martin and John Grisham alleged in the amended complaint that Microsoft “works in close partnership” with OpenAI on the large language models built using unauthorized book databases.
