Microchip Technology Sued Over Microprocessor Code Copyrights

Microchip Technology Inc. was sued by a French company on Tuesday that says Microchip infringed copyrights by using its microprocessor source code without a license.

Cortus S.A.S. says it licenses its integrated circuit designs to companies that use them in bank cards, ePassports, and Internet of Things devices, among other things. Cortus says its APS3 microprocessor has been used in a wide range of applications including SIM Cards and Bluetooth Low Energy technology.
