Microchip Owes Caddo $30 Million Over Website Patents, Jury Told

Microchip Technology Inc. owes about $30 million for infringement of several patents related to the display of user menus on websites, Caddo Systems Inc. told a federal jury at the start of trial Monday in the Western District of Texas.

Caddo alleges a Microchip website and forum section infringe six of its patents. Timothy Devlin of Devlin Law Firm LLC, an attorney for Caddo, told the jury internal Microchip documents show the value the inventions provide Microchip’s business.

“They still have it and they still refuse to pay a reasonable royalty for their use of the patented technology,” Devlin said. ...
