Microchip Fails to Win New Patents Trial on Aptiv iPhone-Car Hub

Microchip Technology Inc. lost its bid for a new patent-infringement trial over Aptiv PLC’s hub connecting an Apple iPhone to a car’s infotainment system, as a Delaware federal judge rejected its contention that the closing argument of Aptiv’s lawyers included new details that confused jurors and unfairly influenced their verdict.

“Microchip had a chance to try its infringement case and lost,” Judge Joshua D. Wolson wrote in an opinion issued Sept. 9 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. “It cannot now get a do over.”
