Trading card company The Upper Deck Co. sued competitor Panini America Inc. on Wednesday for allegedly misrepresenting that it had the rights to sell cards for Michael Jordan, one of the most famous basketball players of all time.
Upper Deck claims to have an “exclusive license” with the former Chicago Bulls superstar to use his image, name, likeness, marks, and other rights for trading cards. Despite being limited by licenses, Upper Deck said Panini “deliberately altered and manipulated Jordan’s image into the background of multiple Panini trading cards.”
