Mexico-USPTO Accelerated Patent Grant Program Goes Into Effect

The Patent and Trademark Office has developed a work-sharing initiative with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property to allow for expedited grants of Mexican patents to American patent holders, according to the agency Friday.

The initiative allows a patent applicant who has been granted a US patent the option to choose that the IMPI grant a patent on a corresponding Mexican patent application at any time during its processing, said the USPTO.

The accelerated patent grant work-sharing arrangement goes into effect immediately, the agency said.
