Meta’s Virtual Reality Headsets Infringe Patent, Lawsuit Says

Perceptix Technologies LLC filed a federal lawsuit accusing Meta Platforms Inc. of infringing a headset audio patent with its virtual reality headsets.

Meta infringes US Patent No. 8,498,439, which is titled “Headset for User Specific Audio Service and Method for User Specific Audio Service Using the Same,” according to the complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The patent relates to a headset that senses when it is put on, collects user situation information, generates a user profile, and controls audio output based on the profile, according to the complaint.
