Meta to Face Trial in Privacy Lawsuit Over Period Tracking Data

Meta Platforms Inc. and the menstrual cycle tracking app Flo Health Inc. must face a jury trial over allegations that they violated privacy laws by failing to protect users’ sensitive health data, a San Francisco federal court ruled Thursday.

Judge James Donato in a short opinion declined to fully grant summary judgment in favor of Meta and Flo, finding that the companies couldn’t escape all of the privacy claims made by a class of Flo users who downloaded the app between 2017 and 2019.
