Meta, Perplexity Follow Google in Bid to Split Authors’ AI Suit

Meta Platforms Inc. and Perplexity AI Inc. asked a judge to sever claims against them from a copyright lawsuit brought by six authors over tech companies’ AI-training process.

The plaintiff authors improperly joined claims against Meta and Perplexity with those against other defendants, the companies wrote in separate motions to sever, because the claims against them aren’t connected to the actions of any others.
