Meta Loses Bid for Do-Over of $175 Million Video Patent Trial

A federal judge in Austin, Texas, finalized a jury’s $174.5 million verdict against Meta Platforms, Inc. for patent infringement tied to the Facebook and Instagram Live video streaming features.

Judge Lee Yeakel on Tuesday rejected a series of post-trial motions filed by Meta, Facebook Inc.'s parent company, after the conclusion of a September 2022 trial and the verdict in favor of plaintiffs Voxer Inc. and Voxer IP LLC. In a separate order issued the same day, Yeakel closed the case.
