Meta Hit With Patent Suit Over Quest VR Direct Touch Feature

Meta Platforms Inc.‘s Quest VR headset feature that allows users to interact with the technology using hand gestures infringes a pair of patents, a federal lawsuit alleges.

The direct touch feature in the virtual-reality headsets infringe US Patent Nos. 11,531,448 and 11,656,742, CurioXR Inc. said in a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. CurioXR said it told Meta in January 2024 about its patent portfolio covering technologies including VR and AI and proposed a licensing agreement.
