Meta Hit With Another Virtual Reality Patent Infringement Suit

Immersion Corp. filed a second lawsuit against Meta Platforms Inc. alleging infringement over five patents covering augmented reality and virtual reality technology, through the creation and sale of the Quest headset.

Meta allegedly infringed U.S. Patent Nos. 8,469,806, 9,727,217, 10,248,298, 10,269,222, and 10,664,143 with the Quest 3 headset by creating and selling video game systems, controllers, games, and applications that use similar haptic feedback technology, according to a complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Haptic feedback provides users “touch or tactile sensations,” such as vibrations.
