Meta Fails to Trim Artist’s Copyright Claims Over Facebook Ads

Meta Platforms Inc. lost a bid to dismiss an artist’s claim that it allows third parties to post scam ads on Facebook using photos of her work.

Jennifer Cook may proceed with her false designation of origin claims under the Lanham Act, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers of the US District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Thursday.

Meta failed to show that the claims are barred because Cook didn’t allege “use” by the company.
