Meta Denied Bid to Dismiss MyMeta’s Opposition to its Trademark

Meta Platforms Inc. failed to shake Italian-owned MyMeta Softawre Inc.'s attempt to block it from registering a “Meta” software trademark.

The law in Delaware, where MyMeta was incorporated, states that the domestication of a foreign company represents the continuation of the company, rather than a new entity, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board said in a precedential opinion. That means MyMeta is legally the same entity as MyMeta Software SRL, an Italian company, which holds a MyMeta trademark registered in the EU in 2020.
