Meta Blasts Authors’ Bid to Add New Torrent Claim to AI Suit

Meta Platforms Inc. urged a federal judge to reject authors’ request to update their lawsuit with a new copyright claim over the tech giant’s use of peer-to-peer file-sharing during AI training they allege benefited shadow library operators.

The authors’ year-long delay to amend their complaint for the fourth time would disadvantage Meta by disrupting the case schedule and enlarging authors’ “non-stop discovery demands,” according to Meta’s opposition filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
