Meta Accused by Authors of Improper AI Evidence Submission

Authors pressed a federal judge to strike allegedly improper evidence Meta Platforms Inc. filed in support of its fair use defense against their AI copyright lawsuit.

Declarations filed in support of Meta’s motion for partial summary judgment are inconsistent with testimony provided by witnesses regarding the company’s use of a dataset comprised of pirated books, according to objections filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The parties are scheduled to face-off on May 1 at a hearing over their dueling motions for summary judgment.
