Meijer Children’s Clothing Line Targeted in Trademark Lawsuit

Canadian apparel company Roots Corp. accused Meijer Inc. of infringing its trademarks with the Michigan-based retail chain’s plans to launch a children’s clothing line called “Roots & Threads.”

Meijer’s use of the “ROOTS & THREADS” mark is likely to cause consumer confusion with Roots’ “ROOTS” trademarks, which it has used since 1973 for clothing, bags, and other goods, Roots alleged in a complaint filed Aug. 8 in the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
