Medtronic Settles Patent Suit on Heart-Valve Tech, Nixing Trial

Medtronic Plc and a patent-assertion entity have settled an infringement suit over technology that replaces a damaged heart valve by expanding itself upon insertion through a blood vessel, according to a court filing.

Judge Jennifer L. Hall on Monday approved Medtronic and Speyside Medical LLC’s stipulation and proposed order to stay the case until Aug. 30 so they can finalize a settlement agreement they’ve reached in principle. A five-day jury trial had been scheduled to begin July 29 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
