Medtronic Owes $106.5 Million on Colibri Heart Valve Patent (1)

Medtronic Plc’s CoreValve unit must pay Colibri Heart Valve LLC $106.5 million as a federal jury in California found three of its Evolut-branded systems induce doctors to infringe a patent for a device used to replace heart valves less invasively than open-heart surgery.

Jurors also rejected Medtronic CoreValve LLC‘s arguments that the patent should be canceled, according to a verdict returned Wednesday and docketed Thursday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
