McGuire Woods, Philips Nizer Lawyers Named to Copyright Board (1)

The U.S. Copyright Office announced three new members of a small claims tribunal that aims to offer an affordable way to enforce copyrights that aren’t valuable enough to sue over in federal court.

The new officers of the Copyright Claims Board are David Carson from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Monica P. McCabe from Philips Nizer LLP, and Brad Newberg from McGuireWoods.

The announcement Tuesday was another step toward full implementation of legislation mandating that a board be in place by December, though it could be pushed to early next year.
