McCormick Settles Old Bay Trademark Claim With ‘New Bae’ Maker

Spice maker McCormick & Co. settled claims that Primal Palate LLC’s “New Bae” spice mix dilutes and infringes its “Old Bay” trademark, according to a Tuesday order in Maryland federal court.

Old Bay seasoning was developed in 1939 and “originally marketed as a crab seasoning in the Chesapeake Bay area,” according to McCormick. The spice company acquired the recipe and its associated trademarks in 1990.
