Maryland Bank Can’t Escape Suit Alleging It Poached Employees

Meridian Bank, a Pennsylvania bank, showed that a Maryland bank and one of its executives had notice that they might have to deal with an out-of-state dispute because employees they allegedly poached were subject to a forum selection clause in their employment contracts, a federal judge said.

“Common sense dictates that it would be fair and reasonable—and thus consistent with due process—to bind” the Maryland bank defendants “to the forum selection clause,” Judge Gene E.K. Pratter, of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, said on Wednesday.
