Electronic music artist Marshmello prevailed over a mixer’s copyright claims that “Happier” by the DJ and English band Bastille lifted from another song.
Electronic mixer Artem Stoliarov, known musically as “Arty,” signed away all rights to his contributions to a remix of U.S. band OneRepublic’s “I Lived,” the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California ruled. Stoliarov had argued that while he had no rights to the remixed “I Lived,” he still owned his contributions, which Marshmello used in “Happier.”
