Lyft Wins Pause In Patent Case Pending Tribunal Review

Lyft Inc. convinced a Texas federal court Friday to pause a lawsuit accusing the rideshare company of infringing four patents for location and communication technology, giving an administrative tribunal time to wrap up re-examining several of the patents first.

It’s appropriate to put Quartz Auto Technologies LLC’s infringement suit on hold until the Patent Trial and Appeal Board decides whether three of the patents—US Patent Nos. 6,446,004, 6,807,464, and 7,370,085—should’ve been issued at all, Judge Lee Yeakel in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas ordered.
