Lyft Press Release Called Out in Quartz Post-Win Injunction Bid

Quartz Auto Technologies LLC told a Texas federal judge a press release issued by Lyft Inc.’s counsel mischaracterized a jury’s $1.05 million verdict against the rideshare company in a motion seeking further limitations.

A jury determined earlier in March that Lyft infringed US Patent No. 9,460,616 which protects mobile-mapping technology. The press release is “celebrating” that a jury determined Lyft violated patent law and calling it a “strategic jury verdict,” according to the motion made public Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
