Lutron Owes $34.6 Million for Infringing Window-Shade Patent

A New York federal jury found lighting and window-shade company Lutron Electronics Co. infringed all six patent claims asserted by Geigtech East Bay LLC and owes $34.6 million in damages.

The jury also cleared Geigtech of defamation counterclaims lodged by Lutron. Judge Colleen McMahon of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York declined to enter judgment Friday, saying in a memorandum accompanying the verdict sheet that she’ll first enter a verdict on related trade dress claims in the case.
