Lululemon Beats Two Nike Patents in Mirror Home Gym Tech Suit

Lululemon Athletica Inc.'s American and Canadian units convinced an administrative tribunal to cancel claims of two Nike Inc. patents connected to digital home exercise equipment technology.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruled Monday, in separate decisions, five claims of US Patent No. 10,232,220 and 20 claims of US Patent No. 9,278,256 are unpatentable because of previous patents and applications. The patents deal with methods for monitoring a user’s fitness while using a mobile device and an interactive athletic equipment system.
