L’Oreal SA won its patent infringement lawsuit against a maker of competing electronic skin care tools in the U.K.
The England and Wales High Court of Justice (Patents Court) said Feb. 6 battery-powered skincare devices in RN Ventures Ltd.’s Magnitone line infringed L’Oreal’s patent covering mechanical devices that agitate the skin in order to loosen plugs that block pores.
According to L’Oreal, the patent covers two different arrangements—one a tension/compression arrangement, and the other, a shear arrangement. The terms refer to the movement and configuration of bristles in the brush heads.
