L’Oreal Virtual Makeup Try-On Tech Infringes Patents, Suit Says

L’Oreal USA Inc.’s virtual makeup try-on tools infringe two patents for technology that recommends cosmetic products after analyzing skin characteristics, Brightex Bio-Photonics LLC said in a federal lawsuit.

Brightex alleges the subsidiary of France-based L’Oreal SA controls e-commerce websites and mobile applications that utilize its patented skin-analysis technology and infringe US Patent Nos. 9,842,358 and 9,542,595, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
