L’Oreal Nearing Deal to End Clash on UMass Moisturizer Patents

L’Oreal SA is nearing a settlement agreement with the University of Massachusetts and a former Catholic monk’s company to resolve a lawsuit filed nearly seven years ago over patent royalties on a RevitaLift-branded moisturizer, court filings show.

UMass, Carmel Laboratories LLC, and the French giant’s L’Oreal USA Inc. unit have agreed to settle but “are working on the details” and expect to file a stipulation of dismissalby March 22, according to a joint status report and order approved Tuesday by Judge Jennifer L.
