Judge Cancels Looming Philips-Thales Wireless-Tech Patent Trial

Koninklijke Philips NV’s first-phase jury trial against Thales SA over patents deemed essential to industry standards for 3G and 4G wireless technology, which had been set for next week, was canceled, according to a docket entry.

The entry titled “Remark,” which posted Monday to the docket in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, simply stated the pretrial conference slated for Wednesday and trial set to begin Aug. 12 have been canceled. It provided no explanation and included no related document.
