Live Nation, Ticketmaster Sued Again Over Ticketing-Tech Patent

Ticketmaster’s SafeTix mobile-ticketing platform copies patented rotating-barcode technology, according to a federal lawsuit that reasserts infringement allegations against the Live Nation Entertainment Inc. unit after similar claims were dropped last year.

EChanging Barcode LLC accused SafeTix of infringing US Patent No. 9,047,715, which covers the use of rotating encrypted barcodes to block screenshot fraud, in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

EChanging, partly owned by inventor Alan Amron, is also asserting the patent in a against Major League Baseball’s digital media arm in another case in the same court. ...
